Germany: Location of Innovation
In the past two decades the environmental protection efforts in Germany have advanced to an important economic and location factor for the country itself. One of the main reasons for the high standard of development of German environmental techniques are the strict statutory standards. Today, Germany is the worldwide leader on in the market for environmental techniques. Nearly one in five environmental products on the world market is made in Germany. More than 10,000 German companies are offering their goods or services for environmental protection and ecologically friendly products. Most of them are small or medium-sized firms very specialised in their fields with the ability to find environmental, technical solutions for almost any problem that occurs in practice. In Germany the leading technologies are still focused on waste material and wastewater technologies as they are classic fields employing environmental techniques.
